Crochet Gif Tutorials: Chaining and Turning at the End of a Row

The chain acts as a turning stitch and gives you the leverage to place the first stitch of the next row right on top of the last stitch of the previous one - just like the extra chain stitch that’s used when you start your project. And the same rules apply here - if the next row is going to be a row of double crochet stitches (dcs), you’ll need to chain twice, so that the turning stitch is tall enough.
